STORY TIMERS is the Baltimore County Public Library's
Early Literacy Volunteer Program. STORY TIMERS supports the needs of
children, caregivers, parents, and the library's community by providing
story times appropriately researched and modeled. Different types of
story times are offered, and include baby story times geared to children birth to 23
months, and preschool story times for children two to five years of age.
STORY TIMERS volunteers serve in library branches, offer offsite
outreach programs, and are the library's extension to the community. At
times they serve as the first contact children and their families will have
with the Baltimore County Public Library. The Early Literacy Volunteer
Program rigorously trains and mentors STORY TIMERS volunteers on how
to provide developmentally appropriate stories and activities for young
children.
